What You Are The World Is

IMG_2518

“What you are the world is.  And without your transformation there can  be no transformation of the world. “ J. Krisnamurti

In the early days of my spiritual explorations, beginning many years ago now, I found Krishnamurti and many other philosophers who helped guide me along my path.

Then I dug deeper and found the places inside my feminine self that lived, breathed and embodied the interconnected way of being…….

……versus thinking about it.

All life expanding and gathering inside the Universe of our own body, heart and soul.

Aren’t we always undergoing alchemy – a transformation that is not a goal to reach, but an on going peeling away of the old skin of conditioned patterns that are ready to be shed over and over again.

Are we so stuck in limited human thought that we can’t wake up to the sound a hummingbird makes while sipping nectar from the vast inner dimensions of a purple flower?

Dazzled In Reflection

IMG_2491

Every day I walk into the world to be dazzled then to be reflective.”  ~Mary Oliver

What if this was a mantra for the day as we opened our eyes to a fresh and pure day unencumbered by yesterday or the day to come?

Ready to be dazzled and in awe of even the simplest ordinary moments we experience. Open to creating from the wellspring of possibilities born out of the spiral of reflection.

Even this morning I find immense pleasure in the cup of hot jasmine tea flowing from my lavender teapot –  it’s elegant golden sweet and simply jasmine aroma and taste, seductively and peacefully lulling me into this one single moment.

The green tea jasmine pearls coming from far away in the Fujian Province of China. The hand rolled pearls are dried then blended with unopened night-blooming jasmine flowers.  Over the course of a night, the flowers open and release their aroma into the tea flavoring it and giving it the heady scent.  The next morning the flowers are removed and the operation is done all over again – up to six times for high quality jasmine teas!fujian-province-chinaThis is art pure and simple. From cultivating, harvesting and preparing these delicate small pearls that clink as I drop a few into my teapot.  I watch them unfurl – literally blooming before my eyes – to their full embodied leaf form as they merge with the hot water I pour over them.

Sweet local raw wildflower honey – natures liquid gold –  joins with the already brewing elements and creates a masterpiece worthy of “being dazzled”. Slowly sipping from the deep, dark red ceramic cup nature embraces the moment.

How has mindful reflection changed this moment in time?

Open to being dazzled, shifting ordinary moments to rich extraordinary ones you will never quite forget as reflection expands awareness in an ever deepening spiral.

I Am Because….

Goddess-in-chestnut-tree

I am because everything else is.  I am in everything and everything is in me.

The wilderness outside of me is inside of me.  Unified as one continuous thread of life weaving a tapestry of intricate and astounding beauty, complexity……and simplicity.

No one moment, thought, sensation or energy flow ever unfolds exactly the same.   Wildness in it’s essence…

“What is the body made of?  The ancient elements.  The same minerals we find in clay, in sand and mud, the stuff of earth.  We share limbs, arms, and trunks with the trees.  The dendrites of nerve cells and the bronchiole of the lung are both named for their resemblance to the branches of trees that extend in finer and finer lines from the central trunk, the main axis.  Can you sense that your own spine is like a tree trunk, a ladder connecting ground and sky, heaven and earth?

 20130729_water6

….or perhaps we are vertical rivers, walking watersheds, all our tissues supported by elaborate systems of irrigation and drainage.  We are made of water and are thirsty for more.  Water flows over the surface of the skin, the earth, across the land, on top of the land, inside the land, across the body, inside the body…

….Fluid mysteries – water sings, and the body is the song.”

Soul Musings/Day 30: A Sense-able Life

simple-pleasures

Do you remember as a child when you used to pick dandelions? Gently (or not so gently) you blew the tops to watch the small air born bits drift here and there leaving the lonely stem in your hand, only to pick another one and do the same thing all over again.

The joys of experiencing pleasure using our senses beckoned us constantly. Like our ancestors long ago we smelled, tasted, touched, pictured and listened to our environment around us heightening these very senses with continual use.

These real life experiences grounded us to the Earth beneath our feet and connected us with the elements supporting our life. The senses were honored, used in sacred ritual, and an essential part of being human.

For this New Year coming invite the senses to awaken your pleasure in life. These are the moments that nourish and tantalize our Soul.

Soul Musings/Day 29: Our Sacred Body

IMG_0713

Tao Porchon-Lynch, Age 96, Central Park, New York

The image above is one of a stunning yoga series of 108 shots done by photographer Robert Sturman. I am certainly taken by the age of this beautiful model, but more by the combination of natural beauty and a powerful sense of body being the expression of the Soul.

I will be a bit heretical here and blast the often used statement “We are a spiritual being having a human experience”. This polarity and reference to separtness makes me feel a little bit like the body is simply a container for an entity (Spirit/Soul) that is more fully awakened than the bones, muscles, tissues, skin, organs etc that bring us to life each and every moment.

Yet it has been shown that all life is co-creative energy and vibration. This includes the tiniest of particles that make up the body known as you.

This absolute creative masterpiece called “body” is an integral part of what structures us to the world and is an amazing work of sacred art.

Those philosophies that deny the body are simply missing the point for without this scared, interconnected, grounded alchemical structure there would be nothing to experience – the body IS the spiritual Being.

Soul Musings/Day 28: Un-Clutched

image5

Waking up in the middle of the night discovering a shoulder, arm, hand and face clutched in the throes of contraction.

Why on earth would there be a need to tensely protect in the depths of safe sleep.

Is life so uncertain that in the next moment we may be taken away to another place to face a firing squad.

Yes, some do live a life such as this…. or worse.

Yet in my safe western world bedroom there is no hint of darkness such as this.

Only the fear that disguises within the tension of what is to come or not.

Trusting natural rhythms of contraction and expansion  – breath, heart, earth, cosmos.

Pulse of life whispers allow….. and let go, let go.

Soul Musings/Day 26: Loneliness

rumi-15

Yesterday was at times a challenge as I spent the afternoon and evening by myself with family thousands of miles away in California.

Trying to pinpoint exactly what it was that ached inside of me for physical connection to my sons and grandchildren. For a partner to cuddle me in his arms and share laughter in front of the fire.

It was a choice not to travel to be closer for all of us. In spite of acceptance of this the pangs of loneliness crept in like stealth maneuvers and left me holding my heart.

And then I remembered that I held everything inside – my children and grandchildren, the partner that will some day appear in my life, the trees, animals, sun, moon and stars…..even You that are reading this post.

Suddenly I knew that all was well, even the loneliness that took up residence for moments of time.

Embracing it all I smiled.

Soul Musings/Day 25: Never As Young As Today

311

What a lovely philosophy to have as we age. This is indeed the youngest day we will ever have for the rest of our life.

As we enter the final third of our lives this is especially yummy to embody. Yet no matter what stage of life we are in this awareness opens up a space for incredible creativity….and yes fun.

Possibilities open up where there are no boundaries placed around an idea, a vision or even a heart opening desire pulsing in the space of today.

Instead of a focus on days gone by that we shall never get back there is a ripeness in each day that offers opportunity.

Unfolding right now.

All we need to do is say yes.

Soul Musings/Day 24: Conscious Language and Possibility

th

Our words reveal our inner journey of life.  The more conscious we become of our speaking, the more consciousness itself becomes aware of what we are manifesting moment to moment. Once you wake up to your sovereignty over your thinking and speaking, you set yourself apart from the unconsciousness of culture.  People will notice you speak and act differently and want  to follow you. You model for your outer world the presence of presence itself. ” Patty Shull

Language is not only vital for communication and connection, but is pivotal to our ability to live fully congruent within our calling this lifetime, supporting effective action from emerging possibilities.

Many of us have had the experience of attempting to communicate when we are stressed or personally triggered (ego in charge) and everything “goes to hell” very quickly.

This language fortifies the “what about me” conversation and we find ourselves in the dumpster of right/wrong, good/bad while encouraging the “mired in ego” feeling of separateness.

On the other hand when we feel rested, relaxed and at peace within, this foundation of stillness brings thoughts and words that are clear and centered arising from a deeper part of us – our Being.

Some call this latter conversation “language of the heart”. These conversations deepen stillness, are connective and open spaces for possibility to emerge.

As the consciousness of our world shifts enough can’t be said about the vital importance of language and the conversations we engage in.

How our conversations feel in the body is key and will help to distinguish whether they are connective and congruent supporting effective action, or separate with a bottom line of ego enhancement cutting off possibility…..the choice is yours.

Soul Musings/Day 23: A Much Greater Hunger

10885240_1533300286926668_8256552856101282060_n

I have been sitting with this quote for a bit assessing how it feels inside of me. Waiting for an expanded awareness to emerge in the space.

Mother Teresa was in service to many of those that had no one to care about them or for them. The pain of “no meaning” is striking for humans.

Humans, animals, plants, cells and atoms thrive and co-create when in the company of their own kind, in collaboration and cooperation on behalf of evolving life.

In the absence of the energy of love, compassion, kindness and caring our bodies simply waste, our psyches reverting to a poverty of the Soul.

As we near the end of the year your private “hunger project” may be to reach out to at least one person in loving attention and concern.

To feed their Soul.
