Soul Musings/Day 26: Loneliness

rumi-15

Yesterday was at times a challenge as I spent the afternoon and evening by myself with family thousands of miles away in California.

Trying to pinpoint exactly what it was that ached inside of me for physical connection to my sons and grandchildren. For a partner to cuddle me in his arms and share laughter in front of the fire.

It was a choice not to travel to be closer for all of us. In spite of acceptance of this the pangs of loneliness crept in like stealth maneuvers and left me holding my heart.

And then I remembered that I held everything inside – my children and grandchildren, the partner that will some day appear in my life, the trees, animals, sun, moon and stars…..even You that are reading this post.

Suddenly I knew that all was well, even the loneliness that took up residence for moments of time.

Embracing it all I smiled.

Soul Musings is a 31-day practice for the month of December immersed in deep listening to what is emerging and unfolding day by day.  Eight sentences with occasional resources to explore more deeply.

Each post, invited by Soul, allows the words to emerge unscathed from prior planning, editing, or censorship.  Dwelling in uncertainty and dipping a toe into mystery this union of words is an attempt to resonate within an innate way of Being…. returning “home”.

Soul Musings/Day 24: Conscious Language and Possibility

th

Our words reveal our inner journey of life.  The more conscious we become of our speaking, the more consciousness itself becomes aware of what we are manifesting moment to moment. Once you wake up to your sovereignty over your thinking and speaking, you set yourself apart from the unconsciousness of culture.  People will notice you speak and act differently and want  to follow you. You model for your outer world the presence of presence itself. ” Patty Shull

Language is not only vital for communication and connection, but is pivotal to our ability to live fully congruent within our calling this lifetime, supporting effective action from emerging possibilities.

Many of us have had the experience of attempting to communicate when we are stressed or personally triggered (ego in charge) and everything “goes to hell” very quickly.

This language fortifies the “what about me” conversation and we find ourselves in the dumpster of right/wrong, good/bad while encouraging the “mired in ego” feeling of separateness.

On the other hand when we feel rested, relaxed and at peace within, this foundation of stillness brings thoughts and words that are clear and centered arising from a deeper part of us – our Being.

Some call this latter conversation “language of the heart”. These conversations deepen stillness, are connective and open spaces for possibility to emerge.

As the consciousness of our world shifts enough can’t be said about the vital importance of language and the conversations we engage in.

How our conversations feel in the body is key and will help to distinguish whether they are connective and congruent supporting effective action, or separate with a bottom line of ego enhancement cutting off possibility…..the choice is yours.

Take a journey into the wilderness within

Stopping here and there to fall into the spaces

That have brought you here into this particular body

To this calling that prods, conjoles and romances you

Until you throw up your arms in surrender

And say yes, yes, yes….this is why I am here

How could I veer so far away with made up stories

When the unfolding moment constantly reveals

who I am – listen….

Soul Musings/Day 18: Taking Flight

d8ed2e63104b69fd77d083963c7c7239

Believe it or not I just couldn’t seem to tap into anything to write about today on this blog. In fact this will look like it was posted on the 19th, but it really is the evening of the 18th…..and I just used up two of my sentences!

But wait I have found an image that has captured my attention. I name it “Taking Flight” as it seems quite possible to me that this woman is about ready to lift off and join the winged beings in the sky.

Perhaps she actually is a bird in flight as in the Irish legends of Silkies who leave their home of the sea and take off their mermaid tails to become two legged humans for periods of time.

I am curious about what you would be if given a choice – a winged creature taking off for the skies, humpback whale breaching simply to show off, matriarch elephant sharing her tales of seasons past, or slithering Coral snake sunning herself on the nearest rock?

Flights of fancy such as this carry me into the world of imagination and hurl me out of this body I have been given. Is it possible that we were made to journey beyond this container taking flight into other forms….returning wiser and forever changed.

If I Were Brave

May today I find peace within.

Green Tara

May I trust my highest power
that I am exactly where I am meant to be.
May I not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May I use those gifts that I have received
and pass on the love that has been given to me.
May I be content knowing that I am a child of God.
May this Presence settle into my bones,
and allow my soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

– St Teresa of Avila (16th Century Spanish Saint)

It is with the quote above that I start this post on being brave and courageous in your life.  I too, like so many of you, stand on the precipice.  As I stand here I remember that you are here with me as well, but that somehow doesn’t stop the thought – Gee, you would think that it would be easier by now since I have been here so many times before.

Perhaps that is the definition of a life well lived….you stand here many, many times and have the opportunity to create your own unique leaping dance trusting that even if you fall on your face….. there will be a “lifting up” that inspires you to leap yet again.

As Chameli Ardah states on her Awakening Women blog “the Green Tara above embodies the fearless and protective aspect of the feminine, but it is not courage which resists fear. If you think of fear and courage as two ends of a spectrum, we need to be willing to move through the whole range”.    This means that standing in the fear is part of this leap process.

Thus easy isn’t quite the word that defines this passage.  I have learned that when we are seeking alignment with our passions and the Divine plan for our life, it is then that we consider taking those leaps and making those choices that bring us into the discovery of what that still small voice has been saying to us for oh so long.

It is here that faith and trust in the wholeness of who we are comes into play.  It is also here that we remember who we really are….and say YES!  Yes, to the healing, yes to one more day to love and be loved, yes to starting over again one more time, yes to the creativity that sometimes rocks us with its insistence that it be brought out into the world, yes to the risk of finding more of who we are, yes to being vulnerable, being “seen” and surrendering the resistance, yes to giving back from a full place with every fiber of our being.

It can come in big leaps, but also can come in stages like the walking of a labyrinth where each step brings you closer to the edge of discovery…and then to the heart of the matter.  The clues are all around us right now.  All we need to do is be still and listen carefully.  The answer is always there.

As you watch this video by Jana Stanfield remember that you are also one of these women that reached deeply inside, found her strength and courage, was not afraid to ask for support as needed, and leapt into Herself, settling into this Presence deep within  your bones.  Rock on!

Thank you to Jana Stanfield and the sponsorship of Robin Rice (The Awesome Women Hub)  and Randy Grossman  (Randy Grossmans Amazing Music Portal)
for birthing this project.
