Soul Musings/Day 31: Reflections on Listening to Soul

Gaye in Bali, Indonesia/Global Healing Conference

Gaye in Bali, Indonesia/Global Healing Conference

Those who don’t feel this Love
pulling them like a river,
those who don’t drink dawn
like a cup of spring water
or take in sunset like supper,
those who don’t want to change,

let them sleep.

This Love is beyond the study of theology,
that old trickery and hypocrisy.
If you want to improve your mind that way,

sleep on.

I’ve given up on my brain.
I’ve torn the cloth to shreds
and thrown it away.

If you’re not completely naked,
wrap your beautiful robe of words
around you,

and sleep.

– Rumi

For those of you that may have been following these Soul Musings for the past 31 days I express my gratitude. In total there have been 93 posts including today’s which is rather unbelievable to me as I was ready to quit it all on Day 5!

True to form there will only be 8 sentences here (though the one following is indeed a very long one!) with the last two being specific to this particular blog. I have experienced many things as I have committed to this practice and among them have been the fickleness of the creative muse; the release in simply writing something and then letting it go; observing the critic that wanted to take main stage but whom I banished to the netherlands (where is that anyway?); the groundedness of a regular writing practice; at times the self-imposed pressure of hitting that “Publish” button every single day on 3 blogs; allowing for the polarity of “good writing” and “bad writing” to vanish from my vocabulary; that there would be “something to write about” every single day, but more, trusting that I would listen to what was coming through and simply act as the translator on behalf of full uncensored expression.

When I was urged from the depths of my Soul – from Source – to commit to this practice I was at first certain of it and then wanted to flee from the implications of it. The months of going without writing anything prior to this practice have now fled into oblivion (would love to know where that is too!) and I am washed clean of any hesitation to simply write from the deepest parts of my being.

This was my favorite blog to post on though I probably shouldn’t divulge that! I will forever be an advocate on behalf of embodiment as an untamed woman, free to fully express safely, creatively and passionately, in this sacred life we have been given.

NAMASTE

Soul Musings/Day 30: A Sense-able Life

simple-pleasures

Do you remember as a child when you used to pick dandelions? Gently (or not so gently) you blew the tops to watch the small air born bits drift here and there leaving the lonely stem in your hand, only to pick another one and do the same thing all over again.

The joys of experiencing pleasure using our senses beckoned us constantly. Like our ancestors long ago we smelled, tasted, touched, pictured and listened to our environment around us heightening these very senses with continual use.

These real life experiences grounded us to the Earth beneath our feet and connected us with the elements supporting our life. The senses were honored, used in sacred ritual, and an essential part of being human.

For this New Year coming invite the senses to awaken your pleasure in life. These are the moments that nourish and tantalize our Soul.

Inspiring New Possibilities, Living From the Soul of Life While Co-creating Well Being of Body, Being, Heart and Planet….One Breath At A Time

Soul Musings is a 31-day practice for the month of December immersed in deep listening to what is emerging and unfolding day by day.  Eight sentences with occasional resources to explore more deeply.

Each post, invited by Soul, allows the words to emerge unscathed from prior planning, editing, or censorship.  Dwelling in uncertainty and dipping a toe into mystery this union of words is an attempt to resonate within an innate way of Being…. returning “home”.

Soul Musings/Day 29: Our Sacred Body

IMG_0713

Tao Porchon-Lynch, Age 96, Central Park, New York

The image above is one of a stunning yoga series of 108 shots done by photographer Robert Sturman. I am certainly taken by the age of this beautiful model, but more by the combination of natural beauty and a powerful sense of body being the expression of the Soul.

I will be a bit heretical here and blast the often used statement “We are a spiritual being having a human experience”. This polarity and reference to separtness makes me feel a little bit like the body is simply a container for an entity (Spirit/Soul) that is more fully awakened than the bones, muscles, tissues, skin, organs etc that bring us to life each and every moment.

Yet it has been shown that all life is co-creative energy and vibration. This includes the tiniest of particles that make up the body known as you.

This absolute creative masterpiece called “body” is an integral part of what structures us to the world and is an amazing work of sacred art.

Those philosophies that deny the body are simply missing the point for without this scared, interconnected, grounded alchemical structure there would be nothing to experience – the body IS the spiritual Being.

Soul Musings/Day 28: Un-Clutched

image5

Waking up in the middle of the night discovering a shoulder, arm, hand and face clutched in the throes of contraction.

Why on earth would there be a need to tensely protect in the depths of safe sleep.

Is life so uncertain that in the next moment we may be taken away to another place to face a firing squad.

Yes, some do live a life such as this…. or worse.

Yet in my safe western world bedroom there is no hint of darkness such as this.

Only the fear that disguises within the tension of what is to come or not.

Trusting natural rhythms of contraction and expansion  – breath, heart, earth, cosmos.

Pulse of life whispers allow….. and let go, let go.

Soul Musings/Day 25: Never As Young As Today

311

What a lovely philosophy to have as we age. This is indeed the youngest day we will ever have for the rest of our life.

As we enter the final third of our lives this is especially yummy to embody. Yet no matter what stage of life we are in this awareness opens up a space for incredible creativity….and yes fun.

Possibilities open up where there are no boundaries placed around an idea, a vision or even a heart opening desire pulsing in the space of today.

Instead of a focus on days gone by that we shall never get back there is a ripeness in each day that offers opportunity.

Unfolding right now.

All we need to do is say yes.

Soul Musings/Day 23: A Much Greater Hunger

10885240_1533300286926668_8256552856101282060_n

I have been sitting with this quote for a bit assessing how it feels inside of me. Waiting for an expanded awareness to emerge in the space.

Mother Teresa was in service to many of those that had no one to care about them or for them. The pain of “no meaning” is striking for humans.

Humans, animals, plants, cells and atoms thrive and co-create when in the company of their own kind, in collaboration and cooperation on behalf of evolving life.

In the absence of the energy of love, compassion, kindness and caring our bodies simply waste, our psyches reverting to a poverty of the Soul.

As we near the end of the year your private “hunger project” may be to reach out to at least one person in loving attention and concern.

To feed their Soul.

Soul Musings/Day 22: The Hidden Language

martha-graham

Dance is the hidden language of the Soul.” Martha Graham

As I ease into day 22 of Soul Musings the New Moon energy washes over me with new beginnings as it nears 10pm in the dark of night.

I have chosen the quote above from Martha Graham for I have often felt that moving the body in dance most certainly has to be an expression of the Soul.

A language that only you can create moment to moment by deeply listening. Words of motion without resistance.

Simply breathing into each moment and witnessing what the body creates – alone or with others.

You may not embody the energy of “dancer” however I am curious as to what would happen if we meant one day in the park and I started moving to my own inner rhythm.

Would you join me, walk away, or interpret your language into movement?

Allow me to learn your language as your being freely unfolds ….

Soul Musings/Day 21: Dark Confessions

Winter-Solstice-Stonehenge-01-449x300

I stand before you (please visualize) and confess that I love the dark. Not to diss the light now but have you seen dark capitalized like Light is. I actually have been know to do this too.

If there is no good/bad or right/wrong then light is not better than dark.

This Solstice day of the most darkness fills me with pleasure as I wrap myself in it like a cloak of comfort. As Clark Strand says in his New York Times article (link below)

In times past people took to their beds at nightfall, but not merely to sleep. They touched one another, told stories and, with so much night to work with, woke in the middle of it to a darkness so luxurious it teased visions from the mind and divine visitations that helped to guide their course through life. “

When I was in the final stages of writing Give Us This Day Our Daily Breath I unhooked from all electronic devices and simply allowed the creativity and whispers from the Universe to come through without interference.

What would it be like to cultivate the darkness and find out what is living there…

Soul Musings/Day 20: Dare to Be Different

3677ab94-3bdb-40b6-b1a4-eecff5dc1991

When I saw this picture gracing a newsletter that a friend sent out recently I fell in love with the novelty

How often do we go out of our way to step over the red line and creatively dare

Coloring within the lines tends to get us the same dull picture everyone else seems to have created

Do we seriously ponder what the next bold thing to do is, not because it may create attention, but because it simply expands possibility

Our uniqueness was meant to be savored, tested, danced out in the open, and unwrapped with great anticipation

Why is it that we so often crawl along with the other lizards in the forest and forget that we have our own direction to go

Experimenting with the sacred structure we have been embodied in

Tapping into the field of dreams we are wedded to

Soul Musings/Day 19: Soul Nature

10351582_10205371727670589_2934955949299492690_n

Take a journey into the wilderness within

Stopping here and there to fall into the spaces

That have brought you here into this particular body

To this calling that prods, conjoles and romances you

Until you throw up your arms in surrender

And say yes, yes, yes….this is why I am here

How could I veer so far away with made up stories

When the unfolding moment constantly reveals

who I am – listen….
