Soul Musings/Day 20: Dare to Be Different

When I saw this picture gracing a newsletter that a friend sent out recently I fell in love with the novelty

How often do we go out of our way to step over the red line and creatively dare

Coloring within the lines tends to get us the same dull picture everyone else seems to have created

Do we seriously ponder what the next bold thing to do is, not because it may create attention, but because it simply expands possibility

Our uniqueness was meant to be savored, tested, danced out in the open, and unwrapped with great anticipation

Why is it that we so often crawl along with the other lizards in the forest and forget that we have our own direction to go

Experimenting with the sacred structure we have been embodied in

Tapping into the field of dreams we are wedded to

That have brought you here into this particular body

To this calling that prods, conjoles and romances you

Until you throw up your arms in surrender

And say yes,yes, yes….this is why I am here

How could I veer so far away with made up stories

When the unfolding moment constantly reveals

who I am – listen….

Soul Musings/Day 18: Taking Flight

Believe it or not I just couldn’t seem to tap into anything to write about today on this blog. In fact this will look like it was posted on the 19th, but it really is the evening of the 18th…..and I just used up two of my sentences!

But wait I have found an image that has captured my attention. I name it “Taking Flight” as it seems quite possible to me that this woman is about ready to lift off and join the winged beings in the sky.

Perhaps she actually is a bird in flight as in the Irish legends of Silkies who leave their home of the sea and take off their mermaid tails to become two legged humans for periods of time.

I am curious about what you would be if given a choice – a winged creature taking off for the skies, humpback whale breaching simply to show off, matriarch elephant sharing her tales of seasons past, or slithering Coral snake sunning herself on the nearest rock?

Flights of fancy such as this carry me into the world of imagination and hurl me out of this body I have been given. Is it possible that we were made to journey beyond this container taking flight into other forms….returning wiser and forever changed.

Soul Musings/Day 15: Express Love Now

 

This video touched me deeply. Every mother might wonder what kind of decision their children would make if it was a life or death choice.

In the few seconds that this young man had to make that decision it was a death and rebirth experience as his entire life passed before him and he realized how much his mother had given.

That he was able to lay next to his mother and speak these words of love and appreciation was the most important gift he could have given not only her, but himself, in those last few moments of her life.

As we enter fully into the final days of this year let us remember that the greatest gift we can give to each other is exactly this.

Paying attention to what we are receiving from others on a constant basis brings us opportunity to express our gratitude and love.

Paying attention to what the mother Earth is giving to us – our LIFE – on a daily basis and taking actions to enhance this living systems thriving is more than an opportunity.

It is a promise ….

I don’t know about you but this Rumi poem takes me down to the roots of my Being.

Not only because this is my experience as I create movement on the dance floor

But for the passion it embraces of life lived in the in between places

Those places that invite you to play where you have never gone before…..and sometimes embarrass you

The rapture that breaks upon your soul as you wonder if someone will notice the light that leaks out from your crevices

There is no bargaining here for it is beyond that….way beyond

The only path to take

Is surrender…..

Soul Musings/Day 12: Even For Just A Moment

Kindness

Today begin as so many other days – with gratitude for all that I have and dedication to live the moments with love. What the day returned to me was kindness and insight.

An e-mail revealed that a friend had gifted me money into one of my accounts. This was unexpected and based on my simply being who I am in the world.

Taking this awareness with me to the post office to mail Christmas packages I noticed how kind people were being to each other in line, going the extra distance to assist customers, and opening doors for those with packages in hand.

As I headed for my car there was a woman with packages piled high on top of her car and of course only two arms to carry them. My two arms were added as I went back into the post office with some of her packages.

Even for just a moment simply Be who you are…..living in love.

Soul Musings/Day 9: Uncertain Territory

If you have followed these posts for the last 9 days then you may wonder how I am feeling about posting daily on 3 blogs for 31 days. To tell you the truth I almost quit yesterday “thinking” it was just all too much to commit to.

Then I received a post today on creativity with the above quote as part of the content. A space opened up inside that shoved aside that part of me that was ready to “give it up”.

You see “giving up” would have shut down on what was yearning to express through me. The act of allowing this learning to unfold itself clearly provides vast territory for creativity to emerge.

Not knowing what will ask to be expressed from one day to the next is the uncertain journey that life asks of all of us. As Wendell Berry says, “ It may be that when we no longer know what to do we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go we have come to our real journey.”
